Colourful Cornwall with The John Dyer Gallery

Ah summer is so close I can almost touch it, and if you’re anything like me you’ve been counting down to the start of British Summer Time since the depths of November! What perfect timing to receive a bold, colourful and uplifting print from The John Dyer Gallery.

I was lucky enough to receive an A2 size print of Polruan and Fowey by the super talented artist Joanne Short – a perfect addition as after moving into our flat back in September 2016 we still have yet to decorate the walls with a great deal of art work! This vibrant and eye-catching vintage style travel poster piece fits perfectly into our Scandinavian inspired home. After extolling my love of all things white it’s great to add a print so vibrant and evocative of the Cornish countryside into our home.

Being quite familiar with the Cornish coastline myself after spending many a childhood holiday exploring various coves, beaches and small towns I jumped at the opportunity to bring a little of the seashore into our city pad! With The Canadian never having visited this part of the UK he immediately began googling Cornish B&B’s – inspired to discover it’s rich and alluring landscape. Joanne has perfectly captured the essence of what makes Cornwall so attractive – the slow-living appeal of the harbour and seashore along with the bustling little villages and communities.

It’s clear to see why The John Dyer Gallery (which features the work of Ted Dyer, his son John and childhood friend turned wife Joanne) has become not only a firm favourite with lovers of Cornwall but has also built relationships with projects and organisations such as The National Trust,  The Arts Council and The Eden Project to name a few. Ted, John and Joanne have established themselves as the three of Cornwall’s most acclaimed contemporary artists through their vivacious and iconic work.

The John Dyer Gallery is based in Falmouth, Cornwall and frequently holds public exhibitions with the opportunity to peruse the artwork on sale and meet the artists themselves. However, if like me it’s not a quick jaunt down the road to the Cornish coast fear not! The gallery is predominantly online with paintings, prints, posters and ceramics available to buy through the website The John Dyer Gallery where you can also book an appointment to meet with the artists themselves. The only downside is choosing which of the beautiful prints to add to your basket first…decisions, decisions!
